No matter how you are making work flow with boards, you probably want to customize the visual representation of your processes and the cards moving through them. In this article, we will cover how to adapt the board layout and how cards can be visually enhanced when moving through your workflow.

Columns are most commonly used to represent different stages of your process. As you learn and adapt, you might to change and/or add columns to your process. This is easily done by click-and-edit, and click-and-drag.

When working in a fast-paced environment, it is common that certain tasks take precedence over others. In this case, an expedite-lane makes sense so that you can quickly push high value work items through your process.

On the same board, different steps in the process have had card limits set so the entire flow keeps working as intended. We don't want to overwhelm anyone by putting too much pressure on any single step. These settings are accessible from the same layout menu and can be set for any column and are enforced for the whole board.

All of these layout changes can help you identify bottlenecks in your process and really focus on making work flow.

You may have also noticed that some cards are tagged and color coded to represent different categories of work and sub-statuses. Tags are commonly used to help you filter out specific information and colors gives you a strong visual representation of things that require some extra attention, like cards being blocked by a dependency
