One of the common ways to structure your work is by creating tags on which you can filter, group, and visually organize cards across boards and collections. Tags help you quickly identify related work, track progress by category, and focus on specific types of work β whether you're managing priorities, teams, or work types.
Tag creation and editing
You can add a tag field to a board as a column.
When accessing the tag field, you can find a list of all the tags created in the organization (or the ones you have visibility to).
You also have an option to create new tag fields if your typed tag does not exist.
When the tag is created, you can press on it to access the editing options where you can:
β
Change tag name
Change tag color
Add custom color
Delete tag
Advanced settings
Set who can see the tags
Merge tag into another (the new one will replace merged tags)
Tag administration
Favro administrators can control tag creation and deletion across the organization. The options can be found in Administration - Tags.
In the same menu, administrators can check/search all the tags created in the organization, delete/merge them, see how many cards use the tag, and see if any of them have limited visibility.
FAQ
Can I see only my created tags?
Tags are global, thus you see everyone's created tags in the organization.
Can I make tags local to a board?
No, tags stay global even if created as a local or shared field.
Can I see only tags used in a board/collection instead of every tag?
No, we suggest using the multi-select field for that kind of option.
I am trying to create a tag, but I get an error message. What does it mean?
The most common reason for this error is when the tag has been created with limited visibility, and you cannot access it. Contact the administrator to allow you to use the tag.
Does it matter if I use lower-case or upper-case letters for a tag name?
Yes, any difference in the tag name will make a new tag and will have no connection to a similar tag.
Can I reorder tags in the card field/sheet column?
Yes, drag and drop tags to align how you want to.
