The backlog’s tree view allows you to arrange cards in a hierarchy in order to better illustrate relationships and to breakdown bigger tasks into smaller ones. It’s like creating backlogs within a backlog.

To access the tree view, click the hamburger menu on your backlog and select “tree view” or hover over your backlog and press Y.

In the backlog you can easily indent and outdent cards using keyboard shortcuts:

  • Tab -> Indent
  • Shift+Tab -> Outdent
  • Command+Left -> Collapse subtree
  • Command+Right -> Expand subtree
  • G -> Group selected cards under a new card

You can select multiple cards to work with them as a group, either by ticking the checkboxes or by holding down the shift or alt key and clicking them.

Card fields can be displayed as columns. By showing columns you are able to get information directly from the card, such as how many items have been completed in a checklist. It’s also possible to select what columns should appear by clicking on any column header. Using drag and drop, you can easily change the order of the columns.

On each card which has been broken down to smaller tasks you are able to see summaries for amount of cards, estimates and time sheets which aggregates from the sub-cards. You can also see these summaries at the bottom of your backlog to get an overview of the complete summary for a specific field.
